G-SENS Contact Elements

G-SENS Contact Elements are fundamental components in the architecture of industrial control systems, serving as the critical interface between an operator's command and a machine's action. At their core, these elements are electromechanical switches designed to make or break electrical connections within a circuit. Their primary function is to translate a physical input, such as the pressing of a button or the turning of a selector switch, into an electrical signal that can control various processes.

The most common types, as offered by G-SENS, are the Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contact elements. A Normally Open (NO) contact, designated by G-SENS as GES-BE101 (often color-coded green for clarity), maintains an open circuit (no electrical flow) in its default, unactuated state. When actuated (e.g., a button is pressed), the contact closes, allowing electricity to flow. Conversely, a Normally Closed (NC) contact, such as G-SENS GES-BE102 (typically red), maintains a closed circuit (allowing electrical flow) in its resting position. When actuated, the contact opens, interrupting the electrical flow. This distinction is crucial for defining the logic of a control circuit: NO contacts are typically used for starting functions or signaling when something is "on," while NC contacts are vital for stopping functions or signaling when something is "off" or in a safe state.
